Commonly asked questions with
their answers:
Q.
What is Verm-X?
A.
Verm-X
is a natural
solution for repelling internal
parasites made up of a blend of
herbs.
Q. What herbs are in Verm-X?
A.
Herbs found in
Verm-X
include:Cinnamomum
Zeldicum (Cinnamon), Mentha
Piperita (Peppermint), Thymus
Vulgaris (Common Thyme), Galium
Aperine (Cleaver), Capsicum
Minimum (Cayenne).
Q. How do
we know Verm-X works?
A.
When deriving the formulation of
Verm-X, the
required properties of each herb
were identified. Inclusion of
each of the herbs is based on
their historical use, through
research and the actions
observed in both humans and
animals. Trudy Norris, Former
President of the Association of
Medical Herbalists, composed the
blend of herbs. The herbs are
chosen for their ability in
repelling internal parasites
additionally
Verm-X
includes herbs that act as blood
cleaners and those that enhance
the general well being of the
animals.The formulation will
also support the health of the
digestive system which will
impact directly on the animal’s
health, well being and
‘performance’. All the herbs
chosen in the blend are
compatible and synergistic
(means work together) with one
another.
Successful trials at Plumpton
College, West Sussex have been
carried out on its action as
repellent of internal parasites.
There is also a fast growing
amount of anecdotal evidence
which shows that animals fed
Verm-X
look extremely well and their
coats gleam and the horse appear
‘brighter’.
Q. Can I
use Verm-X along with a
conventional worming routine?
A.
Different people have different
worming routines, some worming 6
times per year to others who
worm 'when they remember' - in
either instance
Verm-X may be
used. If you worm your animals
regularly
Verm-X
may be incorporated as part of
that routine, maybe every other
worming occasion for example.
Many use only
Verm-X at the
recommended rate of every 10/12
weeks throughout the year and do
not use chemicals.
Q. How
much should I feed my horse?
A.
Verm-X
is a 80gram five day course fed
every 10/12 weeks. Each sachet
includes a scoop and each
horse/pony should be fed 2
rounded scoops per day for 5
consecutive days. Ideally these
should be split over 2 feeds, if
this is not possible 2 scoops in
one feed would be OK too.
Feeding
Verm-X
over five days
prolongs the action in the gut.
Q. Can I
compete my horse whilst on Verm-X?
A.
Yes. As
Verm-X
is 100% herbal and non toxic, it
doesn't disrupt the flora of the
gut and does contravene current
FEI or Jockey Club rulings.
However as rulings continually
change it up to individual
clients to check with their
respective association if there
is any doubt.
Verm-X
offers full corporation for such
research.
Q. I have
a pony, how much of the Verm-X
should I feed?
A.
For ponies under 12hh, the
quantity of
Verm-X
fed may be halved.
However no harm will be done if
the full serving is administered
you will simply save money.
Q. My mare
is in foal, can I feed Verm-X to
her?
A.
No. We recommend that you don’t
use
Verm-X
on in-foal Mares. Certain herbs,
fed in large quantities, can
have a negative effect on
pregnancies and therefore it is
policy to recommend that no
pregnant animal should be fed
Verm-X.
Q. How
long does Verm-X last and how do
I store it?
A.
Verm-X
comes in a
‘Barrier Foil’ sachet which is
waterproof, rodent proof and
insect proof. The sachets are
hermetically sealed and
laminated with a layer of
aluminium which prevents water
vapour, oxygen and aggressive
gases entering the pack. The
packaging also prevents odour
transfer, colour deterioration
and very importantly inhibits
mould and fungi growth.
All these features ensure that
Verm-X
has a long shelf life (3 years)
and guarantees the herbs are as
potent as when they were first
packed.
If
a pack is to be opened and kept
for future use it must be sealed
and stored in a cool dry
atmosphere. Packets kept as such
should be used within 6 months.
Q. How do
I feed Verm-X to my horse?
A.
Verm-X is an
extremely palatable powder and
is readily eaten by the majority
of horses in their daily feed.
In the event of a very fussy
feeder,
Verm-X can be
mixed with a little water to
make a paste and syringed into
the horse’s mouth. See question
above for amounts.
Q. Can
resistance be built up against
Verm-X?
A.There
is no known resistance to
Verm-X.
War on Worms (Taken from Small
Holder Magazine April 2005
‘Natural Remedies on test’)
Two of my ponies are vile beyond
belief when it comes to taking
wormers so I always
take the easy option and put it
in their feed. Couple this with
my desire to keep
everything as natural as
possible and as you can imagine
in my enthusiasm to try Verm-X,
a herbal parasite control in
equines. As readers will know
from Smallholder
February, this product won a
Green Apple Environment Award
alongside some of the
biggest names in industry. But
more importantly what did the
‘Brat Camp’ Molly and
Cerys think of it? They ate it
happily with no side effects and
we tested one set of
droppings for a worm count which
proved satisfactory. So we shall
be using this
again. It appears I am the only
member of the local ‘horsey’ set
who hadn’t heard of
it, with many horse owners using
it regularly.
