Designed to
maintain supple joints and freedom of movement in equines, containing
glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, Hyaluronic acid (HA), Omega 3 fatty acids
and antioxidant vitamins E and C.
Why use Suplijoint?
The Action of
Omega 3 Fatty Acids
Suplijoint is
based on cooked whole linseed, nature's richest source of Linolenic
acid. The digestive system breaks this down into the EPA and DHA
Omega-3 fatty
acids as found in fish oils. These essential fatty acids are well known
for their nutritional benefits to joint health, helping to ease movement
and aid the circulation, thus allowing the synovial fluid (joint oil) to
flow freely over the joints working surfaces. Other obvious benefits are
a healthy skin and coat.
Joint Lubrication
Glucosamine is an
amino sugar used to build tendons, ligaments, cartilage and synovial
fluid (joint oil). It stimulates production of GAG's
(glucosaminoglycans) in synovial fluid to enhance lubrication. In
addition to being a lubricant this fluid acts as a shock absorber
cushioning the joint during exercise. Synovial fluid tends to become
thinner with old age and wear and tear and thus loses some of its
lubricating properties.
Glucosamine is a
soluble natural product obtained from crustacean shells.
After being
consumed it is absorbed through the wall of the intestine into the body.
It is then attracted to the joint cells where it provides the raw
material to build up synovial fluid.
Hyaluronic acid
(HA) is one of the most important glycosaminoglycans (GAG's) playing a
crucial role in the cushioning and lubrication of joints by increasing
the viscosity of synovial fluid. It has been used for many years in
injectable form, but is now also available as an oral supplement.
Cartilage wear and tear
Most bones end in
cartilage, a plastic like material which lines the joints preventing
bone grating against bone. If this lining wears out the joint becomes
stiff and creaky. Chondroitin is chemically similar to glucosamine and
is a constituent of cartilage. Chondroitin sulphate works in synergy
with glucosamine to maintain a sound cartilage coating.
Healthy Connective Tissue
MSM is a naturally
occurring form of organic sulphur vital for the building of joints,
cartilage, tendons and ligaments. It therefore plays an important role
supporting glucosamine and chondroitin in the maintenance of healthy
joints. Lysine and Methionine are two sulphur based amino acids which
have been added to support the bodies natural production of MSM.
Antioxidants
Vitamins E and C
nutritionally support the immune system by neutralising free radicals.
Vitamin C, like MSM, is very important for maintaining joint tissues and
is known to play a major role in making collagen.
Feeding Guidelines
(Based on 500KG horse)
Feed 50g (3 heaped
measures) for the first 15 days. This provides 10,000mg of Glucosamine
hydrochloride and 4,000mg Chondroitin sulphate. After 15 days and for
continuous maintenance feed one heaped measure per day to provide
3,333mg Glucosamine hydrochloride and 1,333mg of Chondroitin sulphate.
1Kg container gives 60 days supply at maintenance level.

Suplijoint comes in a 1kg tub and costs £46.00 including P & P
N.B. Glucosamine and
Chondroitin levels are often not declared. Chondroitin in particular is
very expensive. Always compare analyses when checking prices.
